Experiences of True Learning
My experiences of true learning is going to be best on my Academic tour in the United Kingdom. In November 2008 its the month and the year which i and a fellow teacher went for that mentioned tour.
It was the first time for both of us to go to Europe.
I remember the day when we landed at heath low Air port. it was one of my memorable day.we reached when the weather was terribly cold to an extent that it was in negative six (-6) compared to the 32 degree we ever enjoy annually in my beloved country. before going to UK i used to call it fake, but after its no longer fake.I will not go to deep since am highlighting only the learning part.
Sylvia Bahiga/s problems were about the English language and what ever, which she maneuvered with courage and succeed. Mine was about rotated on the accent of two tutors.and to my supplies both of them were black people. Other facilitators were white people and they used to speak the native British English which was very clear even if you listen to it while sleeping you can be in position to understand .One problem which was about the other tow black people were from America they were neither speaking English nor Jamaican. so it became a problem and they were very fast in their facilitation
In that class i was not the only one who was not understanding those two gentlemen. During our break interaction we realized that a good number of the learners were not understanding their accent . we used to be separated into groups and each group had a leader. so our group leader had to reach our concern to the facilitators and they were advised to slow down.they reached an extent of using signs and even asking ever, have understood and so no and so fourth.
so it was a collective efforts which helped us to reach our concern to the leaders. the school was so big and it had all the facilities you could think of and the teacher and the students were so lovely and supportive
After some weeks i started enjoying what ever was going on, the issue of the language was no longer on table so it was an enjoying moment and a very interesting experience of true learning.
You have been to UK , Bulamba. You still look the same, you have not changed since 2008. Hopefully you will still look like this 10 years from now. It was a good decision to let your leaders know that you were not following those two fast speaking gentlemen. Imagine what would have happened had you kept quiet.
